Guidelines for Whitehall Pickleball Club

Hello White Lake Pickleball Players!
We have exciting and important information for you regarding a few changes in Open Play procedures voted on by the Board and scheduled to take effect July 1st, 2025. Our intent is to create more opportunities/options so that you can choose what type of play you would like.
Open play times will be adjusted to 9-11am Monday-Saturday for both sets of courts. If you would like to play earlier, that’s fine, just arrange to meet a foursome there. This gives opportunity for Round Robins to take place in the morning hours, and clinics to start at 8am. If you would like to continue playing after 11am, you are free to do so, but the courts are no longer reserved for just open play. Round Robins, clinics or small groups can be scheduled after 11am.
Rivers Ace Courts (north courts) will be designated as Social Play courts. There is no body bagging (hard shots at the torso) on these courts. They are geared towards players that are still working on their shots and will be a softer, kinder type of play. Allowances shall be made for beginners and intermediate players. This will be a great place to try out new shots or softer play. Hard shots are allowed to be hit AWAY from players only.
Fischer courts (south courts) will be designated as Competitive Play courts. Body bagging is allowed and players on these courts will be playing as hard as they can or want to. Allowances for level of play should not be expected. A 3.5 proficiency is recommended but not required. At no time will anyone be told which courts they have to play on, as long as you are following the guidelines for the courts. Everyone will make their own choices about what type of play they are looking for. However, please help to inform any visitors you see on our courts of the designations while we work on getting signage.
During open play hours, if someone is waiting to play, be kind, rotate them in.
The last change is a reinstatement of challenge courts. Both sets of courts will be getting a challenge court. A team is allowed to stay together to defend the court against challengers for up to 3 games. After 3 wins, they must exit the court and get back in the rotation to challenge or move to the regular open play courts. The challenge courts will be getting their own paddle racks so players can line up to challenge. If no one is interested in challenging, it will be used as any other open play court.
Again, these changes will go into effect on July 1st. If you have further questions about how this will work, please ask any of the board members when you see us at the courts.

Thank you! We’ll see you on the courts,

The WLPC Board
